Outfit Details: Top (Similar), Tweed Skirt, Over the Knee Boots
Winter can be such a struggle for me and it's
usually around this time that I find myself getting seasonally depressed as the
bitter New England cold just won't let up. Days like today, when its 18 degrees
out as I leave for work, have me wishing that I lived some place warm! As
someone who is always cold (yep, I'm that person in a sweatshirt in the middle
of August) and who craves being outside, I miss being able to step out of my
house without a thousand layers on, but over the weekend we had a glimpse at some
warm weather and when I say warm, Im talking mid-forties. At this point, Ill
take anything over 30 so this was a huge win.
Weather like this has everyone feeling all the
spring vibes and I'm not sure if it is a New England thing, or an everywhere thing,
but mid-forties for some is short weather (Haha!). Personally, mid-forties
constitutes a tweed skirt and over the knee boots (no shorts for me!). My tweed skirt is from Anthropologie and is
both cute and functional for winter weather. The fabric is unbelievably soft
and the underside of the skirt is lined with a silk like material to make it
more comfortable on your legs. I paired with with a navy top from J. Crew that
I purchased last year (I linked another top from J.Crew that I thought would be
cute!) to allow for the green and gold in the skirt to pop. My boots are navy faux suede from DSW and I am
obsessed with them! Timid to the knee-high boot and over the knee boot trend I
wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and try them out. Being only 5'1'' I
thought that they might look disproportionate to the rest of my body, but much
to my surprise I love them and they are the perfect boot to dress up or down.
Hopefully, the New England temperatures will
only continue to grow warmer and bring with it forgiveness for the frigid cold.
Much like every year, the fear of snow storms and arctic temperatures are
forgotten with the growth of green grass, longer days, and beautiful flowers. I
don't know about you, but I am so very ready for the Spring and Summer months!
How do you manage through the cold weather?
